Fans Are Raging Over This White Prince Cast In ‘Aladdin’

This is so unnecessary.

As you may know, we’re about to get a live-action remake of the Disney classic Aladdin.

With stars like Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine), Mena Massoud (Aladdin) and Will Smith as the Genie, we have high AF hopes. (Although fans were already a little annoyed that they couldn’t cast a Middle Eastern Jasmine).

However… Disney just threw an absolute wildcard into the mix and people are not feeling it at all.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that actor Billy Magussen has been cast as Prince Anders, and if you’re thinking ‘who?’ then you’re not alone.

The character is brand new, and set to be “competition” for Prince Ali, as The Hollywood Reporter writes.

With the culture of Aladdin being Middle Eastern, fans believe the casting of a white prince is highly “unnecessary” and are calling it the “gentrification of Agrabah.”

With Hollywood being pressured more and more to represent the correct communities, it doesn’t seem like it’s a good time for this at all.
