If there has ever been a test of patience, it has been the lead up to Stranger Things 4. There have been breadcrumbs of the latest season sprinkled here and there, but finally – FINALLY – we have an official trailer and release date.
WATCH: Stranger Things 4 | Official Trailer
We’re just going to say it, the Duffer Brothers put their whole Dufussy into the official trailer.
Not only do the cast look incredibly grown up, with 80s haircuts to match, not an expense was spared when it comes to the CGI. OK Stranger coin 😍😍.
The teaser starts with an ominous voice (that honestly sounds like they have the spicy cough) saying: “you’ve broken everything… your suffering is almost at an end” (us on the eve of Stranger Things 4 premiering).
The scene then cuts to Max (Sadie Sink) sitting at her brother Billy’s grave, who was protrayed by Dacre Montgomery.
“Dear Billy, I don’t know if you can even hear this… ever since you left everything has been a total disaster. For a while we tried to be happy, normal, I know that’s impossible,” Max says.
Queue many mentions of a war coming to the town of Hawkins, before the text: “every ending has a beginning” engulfs the screen. In their prequel era 😍.
Elle (Millie Bobby Brown) is soon told that without her, they can’t win the war. Not them having to rely on a high school student 😩.
If we remember at the end of last season, Elle, Will (Noah Schnapp) and Joyce (Winona Ryder) uprooted from Hawkins to start a new life. But with her friends in danger, it seems 11 might have to come back.
At this point in the trailer, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) pipes up with a pearl of wisdom, adding: “people say that Hawkins is cursed,”… thanks babes, we’d figured that out x
This is the second teaser we’ve seen in the lead up to the fourth season. The first trailer sparked quite a frenzy as fans spotted a telling clue about the character of Will. More on that here.
According to Netflix, in this season, “a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down”.
If this *really* is the end of Stranger Things then it’s definitely loss for a us… but at least it’s a win for the actors’ hair autonomy.
The fourth instalment of the sci-fi juggernaut is hitting Netflix on May 27 (Volume One) and July 1 (Volume Two).
