If you don’t remember watching The Simpsons Movie back in 2007, then it’s probably worth re-visiting, because Fox has announced there’s a second movie in the works.
The iconic yellow family have been on our TVs for a total of 30 seasons (yes, you read that right), and made their way onto the big screen 11 years ago.
We’ve now had word that a sequel is set for production.
Before the announcement, it didn’t seem likely we’d ever see The Simpsons on the big screen again, particularly because of how much effort it took the production team to make last time.
Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, said that to release the original movie, “It took four years to make, and it killed us.”
But effort like that hasn’t stopped animators and creators before!
You might be keen, you might not be, but a second Simpsons Movie is one of a few projects that Fox’s animation unit have up their sleeves.
Surprise!
If you’re a fan of Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy, then this news is for you, too.
Both series are also getting feature films, with Family Guy also having a segment with real-life actors (for whatever reason…).
But I can tell you I’m pretty keen to see Tina Belcher and her love of butts at my local cinema.
All cartoons are in their production stages and haven’t yet had a release date announced, but going off of the original Simpsons Movie, we can probs expect another 3-4 year wait.
In the mean time, please enjoy this GIF of ultimate feminist icon Lisa Simpson having a boogie.
