But really, Friday saw the second last (we think?) episode of Riverdale season one, and boyyyyy a lot went down in this week in this ~quiet~ little town.
This episode was very maple syrup oriented, which basically just made us want pancakes for dinner… but also gave a great insight into the history of the families’ we’ve grown to love/hate.
The Blossom’s are at the head of the maple empire, and with Jason’s death (who was the selected heir to the company), about 5,000 Blossom redheads rolled into town to try and claim it for themselves.
You must be thinking, ‘what about Cheryl?!’ Well, she’s a girllllll (the horror!) so of course her family hasn’t considered her.
While that went down, Betty was still majorly concerned about her sister Polly, who we find out actually is carrying twins.
Betty’s mum Alice is low-key (but actually high-key) LOSING IT that her daughter chose to live with the Blossom’s rather than her (refer to Alice throwing a brick through her husbands shop window)… But they soon find out that Polly is playing a double-agent and is just spying on the Blossom’s for information on Jason’s death.
HMMM, who are we missing? Ah, yes, Veronica.
V decides to help a sista out (Ethel Muggs AKA Barb from Stranger Things) because it’s all her dad’s fault that Ethel’s dad lost all his money, and in the episode, attempts suicide :(.
Veronica and Ethel become good friends anyway, and again, Veronica proves to literally be the nicest human to ever appear on television screens.
But the main thing we witnessed this episode was Archie being totally pimped out by the Blossom’s to like, sort of (??) date their daughter Cheryl, who aside from knowing what her parents were up to, was all for it anyway (same).
From buying Archie an expensive guitar and snazzy suit, to promising to get him into a prestigious music school over the Summer, Archie is blinded by ALL THE THINGS that he forgets he actually has a girlfriend, Valerie, who rightly so, dumps him.
This was after Cheryl and her big red lips planted one right on his gorgeous mouth. (Low-key shipping them now though, NGL.)
The most important part that we probs should have told you straight up was that Archie overhears Mr. and Mrs. Blossom talking, and admitting that they were the ones who sent Veronica’s father, Hiram Lodge to jail. So there’s that.
Annnndd, we’ve officially forgotten anything else that happened.
DW though, #Bughead are still going strong, and that is allll that matters.
