Tom Holland is a web-slinging spandex-wearing superhero, a spy and soon, the charming adventurer Nathan Drake in a film adaptation of the Uncharted video game series. In and off screen, he’s a literal dreamboat, adorably affectionate and our dream boyfriend. But, if you were ever wondering what he’d be like as your dream prince, then well, we have some bad news. Tom Holland has apparently turned down the opportunity to be a live action Disney prince.
Truly, RIP to this potential Disney gentleman.
In a new interview with CapitalFM, the Onward star was asked about the animated film, which stars him and Chris Pratt as brothers, his own dynamic with his siblings, Jake Gyllenhaal and whether he’d star as Flynn Rider in a live action remake of Tangled. To which, he answered, quite chaotically, in utter bemusement.
“So many people are saying they want to see you as—”
“What, really?” Holland interrupts in complete utter confusion.
“Yeah, they want to see you as Flynn Rider. Would you be game for it and be able to pull off the smoulder look that he does?”
“Probably not, no. I really like that film, y’know. There’s a lot of these live action versions of animated films that I loved as a kid that I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I need them.’ I don’t think I would.”
Holland then hesitates before he and the interviewer joke that he’d really rather be Rapunzel instead. “If they gave me that opportunity then I might consider.”

As of writing, Disney hasn’t announced a live action Tangled is in the works. But, that hasn’t stopped fans from making their own dream casting of everyone from Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid to John Boyega and Harry Styles. And, who knows, if it’s anything like Disney’s Hercules remake, all these tweets just might lead to an actual film down the line.
We personally don’t think we need a live action of a Disney movie that only came out *checks notes* ten years ago. But, if we did get one, it would absolutely star Florence Pugh and Dev Patel, thanks.
