For all those who need a little refresher, Kai was the evil vampire twin of Jo in The Vampire Diaries sixth season, before he returned again for the eighth season.

Kai was 100% one of the evil dudes to ever grace Mystic Falls, considering fans mainly remember him for the time he MURDERED his pregnant twin sister on her wedding day (yep) and then put Elena under a sleeping spell that linked her life to her best friend Bonnie’s.

Fans have been guessing for a while that Kai would make an appearance in Legacies considering Kai’s own story seems to weave pretty seamlessly into what’s going on in the show.

Fans have also pointed out that the Saltzman twins – Kai’s nieces – come from the Gemini coven, which means like Kai they will experience the Merge on their 22nd birthday, which would mean bringing Kai back would make sense for the plot.

Showrunner Julie Pec has told Entertainment Weekly before that she plans on pressuring actor Chris Wood to reprise his role – and it looks like he finally cracked.

“It’s so rude of me and so presumptuous, but I am just going to keep layering in Kai Parker until Chris Wood feels like he’s got no choice but to come back and play in our sandbox. I would love nothing more than to see that character again. I think he’d drop perfectly into this story line. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed and hope that I can make that work out one of these days.”

EW also claims that Kai will make his first appearance in season two during episode 12, which is set to air in February.

Looks like Julie Pec got her wish, and we’re all pretty stoked about it!
