It’s not all doom and gloom though as The CW have confirmed that they’re exploring the possibility of launching a spinoff centred around Hope, the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall.

“There have been many conversations about the character Hope,” CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed in August, adding that “it’s too early in the process” to spill any specific deets. “Nothing has come out of it yet. [Series creator] Julie [Plec] really wants to get the final season of The Originals done.”

Meanwhile, the finale is set to drop in 2018 so you’d better start stocking up on tissues!
