Author of the original series Suzanne Collins has written a prequel novel set 64 years before the original series.
WATCH: Is a Hunger Games prequel a good idea?
If that’s not enough to get you excited, Lionsgate (who originally distributed all four films) is interested in bringing it to the big screen!
The novel, which currently has no title will be released in 2020 and focus on the “dark days” after a failed rebellion.
Collins said in an official statement that it will focus on “the reconstruction period 10 years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days – as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet – provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.”
Sounds amazing tbh.
Lionsgate studio chairman Joe Drake later chimed and pretty much confirmed the novel will get the movie treatment.
He revealed, “As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published, we’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie.”
