NGL, we’re not coping with the lack of new Stranger Things eps in our lives right now.
While filming has officially begun for Stranger Things 3, it’ll be 2019 before we get to see WTF is gonna go down in the town of Hawkins.
So to get us through the long wait, we’ve started a battle bigger than fighting a giant Demogorgon in the upside down by asking the biggest question of all in the GF office – who is the better boyfriend, Steve or Jonathan?
Here’s the arguments from Stacey (Team Jonathan) and Bianca (Team Steve)…
TEAM JONATHAN
Let’s get one thing straight. Jonathan Byers is an actual living angel.
His dad left him, his little brother goes missing, his mum is a mess, he was cursed with truuuuuly flat hair and he gets bullied at school by none other than f*** boy Steve Harrington and he is STILL there for his family.
While most teenage boys are only ever looking out for number one, Jonathan’s number one priority is his family, while also keeping a watchful eye out for Nancy as she deals with douce bag boyfriend. (Oh did I mention the douchebag in question is also STEVE!)
He also DGAF what other people think of him and marches to the beat of his own drum.
There has literally never been anything more difficult to watch than the moment Steve smashed sweet Jonathan’s camera in season one. He is the ACTUAL WORST!
And while there’s no denying Steve’s hair is truly glorious and voluminous in a way I am truly envious of, he is one of those typical immature douche bags you date right before finding the one and realising you can be treated better.
Enter Jonathan!
He has proven he will protect Nancy no matter what – the way he looks at her truly brings a tear to my eye.
And what he lacks in style and witty banter he easily makes up for by being the most reliable, adorable human on the planet! Plus, there’s always room for improvement with his humble bowl cut. All it would take is a little Queer Eye makeover moment to make Jonathan look truly irresistible.
And need I remind you that Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy, is DATING JONATHAN AKA CHARLIE HEATON IN REAL LIFE.
If that’s not proof he would be the ultimate bae then I don’t know what is.
TEAM STEVE
Sure, Jonathan is a good guy, but he can’t even hold off a Demogorgan to save Nancy. In season one, he has to give her the gun to protect themselves. Lil b*tch.
Then incomes Steve with that bat and he does THIS:
Just try tell us that doesn’t make your ovaries explode.
And yes, Steve was a total dick in the first season, but can I remind you all of a little something called character development?
In season two, Steve is all about protecting Nancy and their families from, ya know, the crazy government killing them all.
And that’s just something that Steve embodies as a whole: protection. He is the guy that will always put himself in danger to save you, just like he does with the kids.
DUH I’m going to mention the kids.
Season two officially birthed daddy (okay, actually mum) Steve. His bond with Dustin became the best tv coupling in history, and the only scenes we actually looked forward to.
But most of all, Steve knows when to say sorry. Something that is very important when looking for a boyfriend. Let’s be real, if you get yourself a man who can apologise even when you’re in the wrong, he’s a keeper.
Case closed!
