Breakups are nearly always tough, but going through one during quarantine while trying to work on your own emotional trauma sounds like a nightmare. Scott Disick and Sofia Richie have been rumoured to be breaking up for the past few days, but now a source has confirmed it.
According to the Us Weekly source, “Scott and Sofia are on a break until Scott straightens himself out more.” This comes after a bit of a chaotic period of time for Disick. The 36-year-old was photographed checking into a rehab treatment centre in Colorado earlier in May.
According to the source, it wasn’t for addiction issues, though. Like many of us, Disick has been dealing with worse mental health during the coronavirus pandemic and was seeking help for dealing with past traumas. Which is honestly a pretty healthy move, if you’re not coping, it’s always better to ask for help than suffer in silence.
“At the beginning of the quarantine Scott was doing really well and was doing a great job at taking care of himself and staying positive and healthy,” the source said. Unfortunately, “The quarantine has taken a toll on him and brought up old feelings and habits that may have not been fully resolved.”
Disick lost his parents fairly recently, in 2013 and 2014, and has a complicated relationship with his ex Kourtney Kardashian, who he has three children with. Some people are speculating that Kardashian and Disick are back together, but there’s been no confirmation yet. The Kardashian sister has also recently shared some cryptic Instagram messages earlier this month that may have been in reference to Disick’s struggle.
Throughout this, it seems like Richie has been pretty supportive. A source explained that “a big part of why he went to rehab was because Sofia wanted him to work on himself.”
The 21-year-old model has faced, perhaps undue, criticism for her decision to date the older man. In spite of that, Richie has been supportive of Disick’s mental health. A source said, “She understands that Scott is in a difficult situation. She is very proud that he is committed to dealing with his issues.”
Since they’ve been in each other’s lives and officially dating for more than three years, we imagine she’d still feel the same.
