Earlier this year, Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber were both spotted at a recording studio, allegedly working on Miley Cyrus’s upcoming album. It was all hush hush at the time and we still haven’t heard anything on it… until now.
In a new interview with Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast, the 22-year-old singer was asked if he would ever collab with the Biebz. His response: “If I turned [Justin] down that would be insane considering he’s been one of my favourite artists since I was, like, nine years old. I cannot confirm or deny [that we are working on music together].”
Now, idk about you, but we here at Girlfriend think that sounds like a big old YES! Mendes continued, “in the last six months, we’ve definitely become a lot closer. It’s really cool to have him as a mentor in a lot of ways, just to kind of talk through stuff because there’s not many people who do this type of stuff.”
But, the fact they’re both young pop-stars isn’t the only similarity between them. Prior to dating Bieber, Hailey briefly dated the “Treat You Better” singer in 2017, but fortunately it seems like the gang have sorted it out like adults.
Mendes teased his friendship with the “Yummy” singer last year by challenging Justin Bieber to a fitness challenge on air. And, who knows, as well as a new Justin x Shawn song, we might soon see Shawn, his gf Camila Cabello, Justin and Hailey going on double dates—can you imagine???
