After the super success of Captain Marvel, Marvel Studios decided it was time their other heroine, New Jersey Muslim teen Ms Marvel got some love, with the studio announcing that a new TV series is in the works.
Disney+, the new streaming service specifically for all things ‘Disney’, announced the mega news on Friday that fictional teenager Kamela Khan will be crime-fighting her way onto our screens, and we are SO excited.

Any lover of all things Marvel (guilty) would know that the comic has been around since 1976, but if you are not aware of Marvel history (don’t worry, I’ll forgive you) here is a brief outline of the Ms Marvel superhero and how she broke some serious grounds when it came to diversity within the Marvel universe.
The first Ms Marvel in the ’70s was a character named Carol Danvers and since then there have been many incarnations. Carol even went on to become Captain Marvel.
The latest Ms Marvel – and the focus of the upcoming TV series – is a Pakastani-American New Jersey teen Kamela Khan, and she was the first-ever Muslim superhero to lead her own comic.
Kamela is a shape-shifter – meaning she can stretch and change her shape.
