Miley Cyrus just performed an emotional rendition of her breakup ballad ‘Slide Away’, and in a savage/boss move (frankly, we can’t decide), Miley has brought along rumoured girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter as her date to the MTV Video Music Awards.
Someone grab me the popcorn because this is going to get juicy.
Miley’s performance was filmed in black and white and was a truly heartbreaking show of emotions as she sung in front of an orchestra.
Considering Liam Hemsworth only filed for divorce last Wednesday, it wouldn’t be surprising if Miley has some feelings she needs to let out.

Even though Miley and Kaitlynn skipped the red carpet, backstage footage shows Kaitlynn resting her hand on Miley’s head at one point as she walks.
It’s unsurprising the singer missed the red carpet considering she was epically snubbed this year, even telling fans there was “no f–kin’ way” she would perform at the show.
Publically your new girlfriend to the world is one thing, but Miley’s performance at the VMA’s would have been very hard to watch if you were Liam Hemsworth.
We’re just going to sum it up in one word: Ouch.
WATCH Miley Cyrus emotionally sings her divorce ballad “Slide Away” at the 2019 MTV VMAs, her first public appearance since the heartbreaking split:
The three-and-a-half-minute ballad, which was released only a few days after their break-up had made headlines, reflects on her split from Liam Hemsworth, calling for a healthier and happier life without him.
The lyrics hint that it was Liam’s drinking and drug problem that led to their divorce.
However, during her performance, it seems that Miley changed some of the lyrics to shade Liam further.
What was originally, “You’re right, we’re grown now,” she changed to “I’m grown now”.
Burn.
Miley, 26, kept her eyes closed while she sang the song, surrounded by violinists.
SAD!
