Married At First Sight Sam has hit back after being accused of fat-shaming his bride Elizabeth, claiming he was just telling the “honest truth” when he made remarks about her weight.
During Sunday night’s episode, the 26-year-old took issue with his bride’s appearance.
“I’ve never really dated girls as big as Elizabeth in the past, to be honest,” he told producers.
“Maybe I’ll get her running in the mornings with me. Maybe drag her outta bed with me. I don’t know. She’ll be right. We’ll get her going. She’ll be fine.”
Speaking to TV Week, Sam stood by his first impression and told the magazine he was just an “honest guy, and that was the honest truth”.
“She’s not a big girl, but she’s just a little bit bigger than girls I normally date,” he said. “Health and fitness is huge for me and I was a bit concerned when I saw Elizabeth. I just hoped she’d want to live an active lifestyle too.”
Viewers savaged Sam for his comments about Elizabeth.
