Last month, it was confirmed that Jacob Elordi was coming back for The Kissing Booth 2 to reprise his role as Noah Flynn!
While fans were elated about the news, they also noticed how gloomy he looked in the announcement video.
WATCH: Fans think Jacob Elordi looks miserable reuniting with Joey King for The Kissing Booth sequel.
Jacob and his ex-girlfriend Joey King met on the set of the highly successful prequel, The Kissing Booth, but have since broken up.
However, Joey was pretty glum about the whole thing too, despite how much she loves the movie and her character Elle Evans.
While chatting on the podcast, Mood With Lauren Elizabeth, Joey got candid about having to work with her ex and how hard it really was.
“I’m a fan with how it resonated with the world, it resonated with me. So going back and doing that and making the sacrifice of what, obviously, everyone is thinking about — outwardly addressing, but what I’m kind of on the sly addressing, making those sacrifices was totally worth it,” Joey revealed.
The reason Joey was so keen to return was because of how much she loves the movie.
“It’s a real thing. It was fine. It was good and, I think for me, because I am very much as friggin’ huge fan of The Kissing Booth myself, which sounds really narcissistic, but I am. It’s my night light at night sometimes is The Kissing Booth,” she said. “Because I don’t want to watch ‘Oh I don’t know what’s going to happen and I’m really invested to see what thing they’re baking on the Great British Baking Show.’ But, I’ve already seen The Kissing Booth so it’s my night light. It’s a great movie. Whatever.”
Despite how awkward it might be working with your ex as a love-interest, Joey was elated to be working with her IRL bestie, Joel Courtney again.
“It was crazy, it was a wild experience. But, honestly, it was a really beautiful time. Because I learned a lot about myself and I grew as an actor. I grew as a person on this. And, obviously, going back and shooting with one of my real best friends in life, which is Joel Courtney, who plays Lee in the movie was phenomenal. He’s just like one of my favorite co-stars I’ve ever had, because he’s such a great actor.”
She continued: “Playing Elle Evans was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. Kissing Booth 1 is always going to be one of the greatest experiences that I’ve ever had,” she said. “So getting to jump back in was super exciting for me.”
