Remember last month when Harry Styles disappointed the entire WORLD by turning down the role of Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action remake ‘The Little Mermaid’ after he was supposedly ‘confirmed’ for the role?
Well, now he’s giving his fans an explanation as to why, and it’s the ONLY explanation we will willingly accept.
Music.
WATCH: Everything you need to know about the upcoming live-action ‘The Little Mermaid’ cast:
In Harry’s recent cover-story with Face Magazine, (where he opened up about being gender fluid), Harry discussed that “I want to put music out and focus on that for a while.”
This, we’re okay with.
He continued: “But everyone involved in it was amazing, so I think it’s going to be great. I’ll enjoy watching it, I’m sure.”
So will we!
This is excellent news for fans who have been waiting for Harry to release his second solo album, which Stevie Nicks has called “spectacular”.
“It’s not like his last album,” she said to Face Magazine. “It’s not like anything One Direction ever did. It’s pure Harry, as Harry would say.”
So who will be playing Prince Eric? Well, that is still undecided.
However, when it became public knowledge that Harry had turned down the role, 13 Reasons Why star Christian Navarro (who plays Tony), put himself forward.
“So I heard Harry Styles passed on Prince Eric, well…I can sing. Black Ariel/Latino Prince…no ones called but Season 3 drops next week and I think it’s one hell of an audition,” he tweeted.
Although the original tweet was probs just a joke, it turns out Disney sat up and listened with Christian confirming they have since reached out.
Needless to say, Twitter is behind the idea of Christian playing Prince Eric.
Whoever is chosen for Prince Eric, whether it will be Christian or not, will star with Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle and Melissa McCarthy as the villainess Ursula.
