She may be only 20, but Georgia Productions is one of Australia’s OG YouTubers.
She’s been in the game since she was just 13 (!!) years old, when she started making comedy skits just for the LOLs.
Since then, Georgia’s career has absolutely skyrocketed. Not only does she have over 1 million social media followers, she’s worked with epic global brands, was nominated for an AACTA Award and has even written a book. Impressive, right!?
Girlfriend sat down with the Canon INSPIC advocate for a chat about how she got started, dealing with trolls and bullies, her top YouTube tips and more.

GF: Hey Georgia! What made you decide to start your YouTube channel?
Georgia: Well, I started making videos before I knew what YouTube was, really! I was 13 and I found this software called iMovie my computer. From there, I just kind of kept making videos that friends and family would enjoy. It just kind of went from there because I realised I really liked making people laugh!
GF: Have you always been a natural comedian?
Georgia: The short answer is ‘no.’ If you look back to my old videos, it’s very obvious that I was terrible at speaking to the camera. I was shy, I didn’t have much confidence and confidence comes with comedy. I guess it’s something that I learned and adapted with age and practice.
GF: Did you ever think you could make a career out of YouTube?
Georgia: No! When I first started, I was unaware that it could be someone’s job. I thought for sure it would just be a little hobby of mine and something to do on the weekends. I didn’t expect it to change the way it is today. I really just started it because I loved making videos, even if my audience was only my family.
GF: At what point did you realise that it could really be something?
Georgia: I think there was a point about two and a half years ago that it really kicked off. I started working with brands and my views started going really high and it was at that point my mum and dad said “Okay, she’s got some kind of career in thi. Let’s give this a go.”
GF: Were people at school supportive of your YouTube?
Georgia: Yeah, when I first started it when I was 13, everyone loved it. Then, I got to 15 or 16, those awkward try-hard years when I hadn’t quite worked out who I was. I did cop a bit of it from peers at school. But hey, we all grow up and I’ve forgiven those people now.
GF: Did those people giving you a hard time ever make you want to give up YouTube?
Georgia: Surprisingly no, I was a quite the oblivious person! If someone said “Oh my god Georgia, I love your videos” in a sarastic way, I’d be like, “Oh my god, thanks!” I kind of just let those things bounce off me, which I wish I could still do as well today!
GF: Do you deal with any online trolling now?
Georgia: I get the occasional hate comment, but of course, it doesn’t really affect me. If anything, it’s just like, “Oh well, someone’s wasted their time writing something like that!”
GF: What do you think you would be doing for a career if it wasn’t YouTube?
Georgia: Probably a music teacher specialized in teaching students how to play the triangle. (laughs) Just kidding. No, probably a TV presenter, still something in front of a camera.
GF: With social media changing all the time, do you ever feel the pressure to build a following on platforms like TikTok?
Georgia: Not really. I’m quite content with the platforms I’m on at the moment. I find the more social media I have, the less social I become!
GF: How do you create boundaries between your social media life and your real life?
Georgia: Well, I don’t post every move I make. The world doesn’t need to know about my little sushi date with my boyfriend, or when I’m spending time with my family or indulging in a Magnum something. Some things are better kept private, hence why I’m Georgia Productions.
GF: Was that a very conscious decision to from the start, to keep your last name out of it?
Georgia: Yep, it was something that my parents set as a rule and it never changed. So, I thank them for that.
GF: What do you think someone needs in order to start a YouTube channel?
Georgia: You just need yourself and your personality. In terms of gear, I’d say honestly you can even just use your phone to start and an editing app on your phone. Or, if you have a Mac, there’s iMovie on that. From there, you can slowly upgrade with different cameras if you want to take it more seriously
GF: What’s been your biggest career highlight thus far?
Georgia: It would have to be meeting The Rock and Kevin Hart! I absolutely adore those guys. It was a relief because you sometimes worry that celebrities aren’t going to be the same in real life. But they would just what you’d expect, they were lovely.
GF: What’s next for you in 2020?
Georgia: With a job like YouTube. I just honestly never know what’s going to happen next. I never know what my next job is going to be or what awesome opportunity is going to pop up. just play it by ear and try to trust myself and my decisions. I’m not too worried about what the future holds at the moment, cause it’s looking alright!
