In case you missed it, reality TV has gotten even more bonkers while we’re all getting cabin fever in isolation. Netflix’s latest offering Too Hot To Handle is loosely based on the premise that a bunch of super hot and highly sexually forward people from all over the world need to tone down their casual hookups and focus on building *real* relationships.
So Netflix trapped them in a house with a robot that takes away prize money if they kiss, have sex or masturbate. Because… that makes sense, you know?
(Let’s put aside for the moment that a “real” relationship needs to be one that begins without sex… ICYMI, sex can be a beautiful and meaningful mode of communication if you want it to be!)
What is really hard to wrap our brains around now, because of its reality TV origins is Francesa Farago and Harry Joswey’s apparent engagement!? The Canadian model and Australian lad was the show’s most turbulent couple. After a rocky start (Jowsey literally lies without blinking that Francesca made a move on him and throws her under the bus) they became the couple whose romantic escapades cost the group by far the most amount of money.
Apparently, nothing says true love like a relationship that blossomed from highly produced television in which you lie to everyone around you? Jowsey proposed to Farago on Zoom during the show’s reunion episode that premiered recently.
Getting down on one knee he said, “Well, we may as well,” before pulling out a Ring Pop candy and continuing. “I just want to say you’ve absolutely changed my life, I love you so much and I can’t wait to spend forever with you. Do you want to do this thing? Do you want to get married?”
“Harry knows I want to marry him, so yes,” Farago said.
Now though, in a recent interview, Farago has backtracked and says they’re not actually engaged.
“Everyone’s been, are you engaged… Like I asked him, ‘Are we engaged?’ And he’s like, ‘I asked you to marry me.’ So I don’t know, like, I think it definitely needs to be done in person. In like a proper proposal. So as of right now, no, we’re not engaged,” clarified the model.
Well, we guess the course of real (?) love never did run smooth!
