Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why had us even more shook than the first season, but WE’RE READY for season 3 to hit us just as hard.
While we wait… let us inform you on everything we know so far about what’s to come.
DYLAN MINNETTE CONFIRMS IT HAS THE BEST EPISODES YET
YEP – we didn’t think they could get any better, but the star of the show himself has confirmed it. Dylan tweeted about the show, which he even admitted is rare for him.
“i know i never really tweet about 13 reasons why but i gotta say some of these last few scripts of season 3 are the show’s best. alright that’s all 👋”
ABORTION COULD BE THE MAIN TOPIC
Well, if the storyline were completely up to Anne Winters (Chloe – Bryce’s girlfriend). In the finale of season 2, we learn that Chloe is pregnant. “Abortion should be a topic. I don’t know if she should do it or not, I’m going to leave that up to the writers. But I think that it should definitely be discussed, she told The Hollywood Reporter.
PRODUCTION HAS BEEN HELD UP DUE TO SELENA GOMEZ’S HOSPITALISATION
As we know, Selena Gomez checked herself into a mental facility after suffering an emotional breakdown.
According to Us Weekly, a source close to Selena says that “She wants to better herself every day. That’s her priority.” But her hospitalisation may have delayed production.
Now, Selena is officially out of the facility.
THE CAST GOT PAY RISES!!!
YEP! Since the show is now a major hit, the cast know their worth!
Dylan Minnette and the rest of teenage cast members asked Netflix for raises before season 3 started shooting.
Dylan will now be making $200,000 per episode, while the rest of the cast will be making $135,000.If the show gets renewed for a fourth season (which duh, it will), they will get anhtger raise that will earn them $150,000 each episode.
Previously, the cast made $20,000 – $60,000 each episode. Dylan was making around $80,000, as Deadline reports.
FILMING HAS ALREADY BEGUN!
The entire cast returned to San Francisco Bay Area to begin filming for season 3, as photos from their personal accounts suggest.
according to SFGate, shooting will run from August 12 until February 6, 2019.
Glorioso Casting even set up new casting calls for extras to join the series.
DYLAN MINNETTE HAS SUGGESTIONS FOR CLAY
What’s going to happen to Clay in season 3? After he stopped Tyler from shooting the school, Clay is seen holding a gun as police turn up to the scene. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he revealed that the season will most likely continue right where it left off.
“I don’t know, I’m not confirming, but that’s where I feel like it’s going. I don’t know what Clay does with that gun, I don’t know how he gets out of it,” he tells Entertainment Tonight. “When we were filming it I did not realise that the sirens would sound that close!”
He also discussed the possibility of exploring Clay’s mental health. “To continue the conversation of, you know, mental illness and everything can really be explored through Clay. I think there’s a lot to be discussed with him,” he said.
“I think if anyone expects Clay to have an easy path in any season, we know we’re wrong,” he said. “I think that season three is definitely not gonna be easy for Clay or any of these people and if it was, I don’t think we’d be the show anymore…yeah, man, I’m nervous to know what Clay is gonna go through in season three.”
WE SHIP TYLER AND MACKENZIE AND SO DO THEY
Tyler and Mackenzie might give their relationship another go in season 3. Speaking to Seventeen.com, Chelsea Alden, who plays Mackenzie, said it might be a possibility.
“I’d love to see Mack and Tyler try to start over. Maybe even just try to rebuild their friendship and trust, and hopefully that could build back into a relationship. But Tyler definitely has some things he needs to work on for himself, and I’d love to see Mackenzie just be there for him and help him through it,” she said.
WHAT ABOUT MONTY?
Seventeen.com also sat down with Timothy Granaderos, who plays Monty, and he shared his season 3 predictions.
“It’s hard to say what’ll happen to Monty. I think that sometimes in the real world, proper justice isn’t served. From a viewer’s perspective, I hope Monty gets what’s coming to him. From an actor’s perspective, I hope it takes a season’s worth of episodes for it to come,” he said.
SCOTT REED MIGHT JOIN FORCES WITH CLAY
At the end of season 2, we see Scott Reed no longer protecting Bryce, and helps Clay find the polaroids from the clubhouse. Brandon Butler, who plays Scott, told Seventeen.com that “Selfishly, I think it would be kinda interesting to see Scott hanging out with Clay’s crew and maybe learn more about Scott’s relationships with Bryce and Monty.”
We agree!

THERE WON’T BE ANY MORE HANNAH BAKER
Showrunner Brian Yorkey and Katherine Langford have both hinted that Hannah won’t appear in season 3.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Katherine said:
“For me, we told Hannah’s story so fully in season one. And in a way, doing that scene in episode 13, I’ve so often referred to it as it was the hardest scene because it’s the scene where I had to let her go. I think coming back this season was challenging because it was playing her but not really her. The challenge was when you tell a character’s story so fully, and then you have to come back as a version of her that’s filtered through other people’s eyes; that required a lot of trust.”
Brian told Elite Daily that Hannah won’t have a huge role in the new season.
“The loss of Hannah will continue to be the inciting traumatic event for this group of kids and parents. It will always be part of the story. But I don’t see a tremendous continued presence for Hannah, because I think we needed her to finish telling everyone else’s side of her story and we needed her so that Clay could get to a point of saying, ‘I love you and I let you go’,” he explained.
WHAT ABOUT THE EPIC LOVE STORY THAT WAS HANNAH AND ZACH??
We all remember the moment we fell in love with Hannah and Zach in season 2, so will that be explored more in the new season?
There is a good possibility that more flashbacks about their relationship will be shown in season 3, and for that, we are absolutely stoked!

WE’RE WORRIED FOR JUSTIN
At the end of season 2, Justin was taken in by the Jensen family. However, when Justin and Clay were talking in Monet’s, his junkie mother’s boyfriend Seth was watching him from the car menacingly.
As we know, Justin had taken money from Seth before which enraged Seth.
WILL GUN VIOLENCE BE ADDRESSED?
We all know how prevalent gun violence in America is right now, and since Tyler had planned to shoot his school toward the end, we are sure gun violence is something that will be addressed in the new season.
A LOVE-TRIANGLE IS COMING
Jess eventually finds happiness with Alex as they become close throughout season 2, but we know that is all messed up when she finds herself back with Justin at the Spring Fling dance.
With everything that happened between Justin and Jess, it’s an interesting relationship to explore. But Alex seems to be pretty good for Jess as they’ve both helped each other heal…
