She’s collaborated with everyone from Ariana Grande to Megan Thee Stallion, she’s released another hit album, and (of course) several more of her songs have gone viral on TikTok.
But who is Doja Cat when she’s not dropping bangers that go viral? We’ve got all the info you need to know about her and honestly, she’s a total boss babe.
Who is Doja Cat?
Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, better known by her stage name Doja Cat, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. What can’t this woman do??
She started out as a SoundCloud rapper in the early 2010s, signed to RCA Records in 2012 and had her first mainstream hit with ‘So High’ in 2014. But her breakout moment came in 2018 when the internet got ahold of her home music video for “Mooo!”
It was a viral hit and Doja’s star continued to rise until 2020, when she became the music sensation we know now after her song ‘Say So’ hit TikTok. It dominated the app for months on end, shooting Doja’s Hot Pink album to the top of the charts and every single she’s dropped since has been a hit on TikTok too.

At just 25-years-old, Doja is already super successful for such a young artist. Born on October 21, 1995, Doja is a Libra and celebrated her birthday last year with a luxe pink party hosted by Pretty Little Thing.
Does Doja Cat have a girlfriend?
It looks like it! Doja took to Twitter to show off her “girlfriend” Bree Runway in July 2021, posting a cute tribute to the English singer and Rapper. Bree is an artist in her own right and won the award for Best New International Act at the 2021 BET Awards.
“I have a girlfriend and I’m going public @breerunway,” Doja tweeted alongside two photos of Bree.
Like any good girlfriend, Bree responded with a tweet of her own showing off Doja in a hot pink outfit with the caption: “My hot date @dojacat”
The love didn’t stop there though! Bree also took to Instagram with a series of snaps of the pair together, captioning them: “you know I’m crazy about my WOMANNNN! Love youuuuu @dojacat best night everrrr”
The signs all point to Doja and Bree being an item and plenty of queer fans rejoiced at the news. However, it’s also super common for women to refer to their female friends as “girlfriends” and share affectionate posts like these even if they’re not dating. Plus, Doja has been known to joke around and prank her fans on social media.
With that in mind, some fans are waiting for Doja to officially confirm that she and Bree are in a romantic relationship before calling them #CoupleGoals.
In the past, Doja Cat was in a relationship with indie artist Johnny Utah, AKA JAWNY. The pair dated from 2019 until early 2020.

Doja Cat has plenty of fans in the LGBTQIA+ community and has even hinted that she is part of the community herself.
She previously said on an Instagram Live that she “likes both”, adding: “I like people that I can have sex with. And you can kinda have sex with anybody.”
Several of her songs also include subtle references to the queer community and Doja liking men and women. Though the rapper hasn’t officially confirmed whether she identifies as bisexual or something similar, many fans have labelled her a queer icon.

Has Doja Cat had any scandals?
Unfortunately, Doja has said a few problematic things in her time, but the rapper has also apologised for her past mistakes. In the 2010s she was caught tweeting homophobic slurs, appropriating Hindu culture in a music video, and was accused of being racist towards Asians in some of her lyrics.
In 2018 she tweeted out an apology for her problematic actions, writing: “I apologize for the derogatory terms I’ve used in the past and no one should be discriminated against for their race, religion, or sexual orientation,”
