In the first 24 hours following the trailer’s release, it’s already breaking records. It’s received an insane 224.6 million views, making it the second most viewed trailer from any studio in one day. It is also now the most viewed Disney trailer debut ever.

This comes as no surprise with the line up of celebs set to star in the film. The remake stars Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Seth Rogan as Pumba, Billy Eichner as Timon, John Oliver as Zazu and John Kani as Rafiki.

Disney is bringing our fantasies to life returning James Earl Jones as the voice of Mufasa, which was his role in the original film.

This isn’t the first live action remake in the works from Disney. Childhood favourites Dumbo, Aladdin and Mulan are also making their way to the big screen.
