When The Vampire Diaries ended, we weren’t quite sure what to do with ourselves.
The unanswered questions! The weekly drama! Ian Somerhalder‘s face! What do we do now?!

Luckily, producers kept fans happy by creating a couple of spin-off shows from the OG Vampire Diaries, bringing us The Originals and Legacies.
While many of the characters are new and delving into their own narratives, there’s one in particular from Legacies who got everyone talking.
Prepare yourselves for this one: Damon and Elena have a daughter. And her name is Stefanie Salvatore. Holy. Potatoes.
All was revealed in season one where Josie Saltzman mentions her to Lizzie at the lockers.
“Stephanie Salvatore’s dad gave him the watch,” she said with exasperation.
We’re sorry, WHAT!?
Naturally, fans went into overdrive, with many taking to Twitter to voice their excitement.
“We haven’t talked about this line enough, ‘Stefanie Salvatore’s dad’. Josie called Damon a dad. DAMON IS SOMEONES DAD OH MY GOD,” wrote one.
Another added: “We all know she’s really Stefanie Jenna Rose Miranda Salvatore. Like the royalty she is, she gets multiple first names.”
The news was better than we could have hoped because when we last saw Damon and Elena on TVD, they were happy and living their best lives.
But this showed that Damon got his wish to have children with Elena.
And while we’re still waiting for a real good deep dive into her story, we know a few things about her.
In an interview with TV Line, Ian Somerhalder, who played Damon (so technically Stefanie’s dad) acknowledged her by saying, “Oh, yeah, isn’t that my daughter?”
And in the biggest hint of all, the show’s writer Julie Plec also mentioned that she was sussing out how to weave Stephanie’s character in.
“I’d have to figure out why a child of theirs would be supernatural and in boarding school. But it’s on my list of things to think about,” she Tweeted back in 2019.
And yes, the show later confirmed that Damon and Elena have multiple children – Jenna, Sarah Lillian and a son, Grayson.
