Been missing Sabrina and Riverdale? Good news: Cole Sprouse and Kiernan Shipka are starring in a new movie together.
According to Deadline, Cole and Shipka will play a couple on the run in an upcoming film called Blood Ties. The film is based on a drama article in the New Yorker by Nathan Heller, and directed by Aaron Katz and produced by Fred Berger.
As per the report, the film follows Detective Reese Rezek (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who obsessively investigates the brutal murders of Nancy and Derek Haysom, a seemingly ordinary couple in suburban Virginia. As she unravels the dark possibilities behind their deaths, two suspects emerge: their daughter, Lizzy (Shipka) and her boyfriend, Jens (Sprouse).
But, before they can be arrested, the young couple flees for Europe, drawing Reese into an international manhunt and a years-long search for the truth that spanned from 1985-91.
Needless to say, it sounds amazing and the perfect next role for the actors behind the curious and spooky teen witch Sabrina and the clever, deep-thinking Jughead. No news of a release date as production hasn’t even begun filming but we can expect to see the film sometime next year.
Cole Sprouse and Kiernan Shipka in Blood Ties join other 2021 movies we’re super keen on, including one where Joey King is an assassin, another starring Barbie Ferreira and Haley Lu Richardson, and a new Disney movie starring Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran. While Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was sadly cancelled earlier this year, the fifth season of Riverdale is just about to start filming and fans think KJ Apa’s character Archie is in danger.
