Charmed reboot star Sarah Jeffery is tired of the original Charmed trio badmouthing the 2018 reboot.
In a TikTok video recording of an Instagram Live, OG Charmed stars Holly Marie Combs (Piper) and Rose McGowan (Paige) were asked about Netflix taking off the original series from their platform, where McGowan shared her opinion of the new series: “it sucks,” she said, off camera, before poking her head towards the phone to add, “I haven’t seen but it sucks.”
And look, sure, the new Charmed isn’t the best thing on television but it’s no Heathers reboot! Editor’s note: the Heathers TV show is an awful adaptation of the iconic ‘80s film starring a young Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.
After seeing the video, Descendants star Sarah Jeffery, who plays Maggie Vera in the reboot, took to Twitter to share her disappointment in the pair’s comments.
“I saw this earlier and I refrained from saying anything,” Jeffery began. “I thought, better to just let them shout into the abyss.”
“But I do want to say, I find it sad and quite frankly pathetic to see grown women behaving this way,” she continued. “I truly hope they find happiness elsewhere, and not in the form of putting down women of colour.”
“I would be embarrassed to behave this way. Peace and love to y’all.”
Unlike Marie Combs and Mcgowan, Shannen Doherty thinks the new Charmed reboot is “awesome.” Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Doherty said, “I’m happy to see that a show that back then was all about strong women who supported and loved each other is now coming back again. I wish them [the cast and crew of the Charmed reboot] well.”
