If you didn’t play Carmen Sandiego as a child, on your fat desktop computer that needed dial-up to connect to the internet, then you’ll have no freaking idea what I’m talking about.
But for those who did live through that hard, beautiful era… then you’ll be excited to know that the iconic video game is being made into a live-action movie!
But do you want to know the best part? Jane The Virgin star Gina Rodriguez has been cast as Carmen.
Gina will also be producing the movie through her I Can and I Will Productions agency, as well as producers Kevin Misher and Caroline Fraser.
Gina Rodriguez founded the company in 2015, and the mission of I Can and I Will Productions is to “create art that tells stories from the unheard and unseen, discover and expose new talent and increase empathy and understanding for all communities.”
Gina is also set to voice Carmen in the upcoming Carmen Sandiego animated series, which will premiere in 2019. The live-action movie will be a standalone.
Right now, no director has been picked.
