Laurie Lake, aka Riley Keough quickly takes interest in Archie, who she thinks is called Biff. While helping him shave, she kisses him, and we were all SHOOK. He’d only dumped Veronica like, a day earlier.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Camila Mendes even admitted that she was stunned by the twist.
“To be honest, when I read that I was a little shaken by it,” she said. “I’m like, ‘OK, that was pretty fast, Archie! Way to go. Way to break my heart and move on.'”
However, Camila gave the fans some hope for #Varchie’s future.
“That girl, Laurie, she’s trouble. I think Archie just had a moment where he needed to be comforted by some romantic gesture, but I think he realises after kissing her that it’s not really what he wanted… and that he’s not ready.” She continued, saying, “I think Varchie is endgame. They will stay together.”
In a previous interview with Teen Vogue, Camila did reveal that she and Archie would face tough times in season 3.
“She’s really on her own, and I think her heart breaks a lot in this season,” she said at the time.
This week will be the midseason finale, so we might not know what’s happening with #Varchie until next year! Le sigh.
