According to Deadline, Mendes and Hawke are set to lead Strangers, a new Netflix film from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great). While we don’t know much about the new flick, the film is “described as a subverted Hitchock-ian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls. It follows Drew (Alpha, It girl) and Eleanor (beta, alt girl) who, after a clandestine meet-cute, team up to go after each other’s bullies.”

You don’t have to be Professor X to guess who’s playing who here: Mendes’s current role as Veronica, the smart, rich, fashion forward and powerful member of the Riverdale crew fits perfectly with the It girl, while Hawke could easily rock some chunky highlights and be the film’s alt girl. In response to the news, Mendes shared the Deadline story—as all actors do when their latest project is finally revealed—with the caption, “let’s do revenge.”

Last month, fans also got a first look glimpse at Maya Hawke’s younger brother as Hawkins’s edgy new teen on the block in Stranger Things. Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke’s new film joins a bunch of other upcoming teen flicks we’re excited for, including Dash & Lily, starring Austin Abrams and Midori Francis, and 2 Hearts, starring Aussie fave Jacob Elordi.
