Austin Butler confirmed to play Elvis in upcoming biopic

It’s official.

Austin Butler (The Shannara Chronicles) is set to play Elvis in an upcoming new biopic by Baz Luhrmann.

Variety is reporting that the 27-year-old actor has officially got the part!

Apparently Harry Styles, Ansel Elgort and Miles Teller all went for the role but in the end, Butler beat the competition.

The film is set to begin production early next year with filming set to take place right here in Queensland, Australia.

Luhrmann’s take on the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll will particularly focus on his rise to fame.

Butler, who is currently dating High School Musical‘s Vanessa Hudgens joins Toy Story‘s Tom Hanks who is set to play manager Colonel Tom Parker in the film!
