Look, we get that being a part of a show as big Game of Thrones was would have a lasting impact on your life. Certainly for Sophie Turner, who went from Sansa to full-blown movie star as Jean Grey in the recent X-Men films. Some people, however, think her love of Game of Thrones runs so deep that she… named her new baby girl after a character in the series?
According to multiple reports, the young couple welcomed a baby girl last week who they’ve reportedly named Willa.
Given Turner spent nearly eight years of her life in the show some fans are wondering if her daughter’s name is a low key homage to the series. There’s not one, but two minor characters in Game of Thrones called Willa. One appears twice in season five as a wilding, and the other during season eight as a servant in Winterfell. Turner does have quite a few Game of Thrones tattoos in honour of her time there, but as yet neither Jonas or Turner have confirmed that was the inspiration behind the name.
In terms of the name’s meaning and origin in our non-feudal universe: Willa is of old German origin and means “will helmet or protection.” It looks like we’re gonna have to wait a while for any further details about the lil bub though. Neither Jonas or Turner have ever actually publicly acknowledged the pregnancy (now baby!) since rumours first started up earlier this year.
On the bright side, Turner has provided everyone with a wealth of chic outfits we reckon you should try even without a GoT tribute baby growing in your belly.
