It’s Jonathon Bailey’s world and we’re just living in it.
The English actor shot to fame after being cast in regency-inspired drama, Bridgerton. Now, as the lead character in the show’s second season, the performer has turned even more heads.

Starring alongside Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma) in the Netflix show, Jonathon portrays Bridgerton boy, Anthony. While the first season followed the love story of Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon (Regé-Jean Page), this time around it’s Anthony’s turn on the marriage market – and for another addictive enemies-to-lovers arc 😍.
From his Mr Darcy-reminiscent wet t-shirt scene and unrivalled on-screen charisma – along with a noticeable absence of *those* period sideburns from the first season (thank god) – the star certainly has captured a few hearts both on- and off-screen.
But it’s just *who* has captured *his* heart that has people talking.
So, for that reason, we’ve delved into Jonathon Bailey’s romantic life. And let’s just say it’s far from the world of 19th century England.
Who is Jonathon Bailey dating?
After a thorough investigation, it appears that Jonathon is currently single. That, or he keeps his partner as under wraps as Lady Whistledown’s identity.
While many people might be glad to hear of Jonathon’s single status, the star has previously confessed that he has some reservations about the concept of celebrities being open to objectification.
“Any actor who thinks they’re a sex symbol? Cringe,” the stage star told GQ Hype in 2022.
In the same interview, the Bridgerton boy spoke about his sexuality and how it affected his experience in the industry.
The star divulged that a fellow actor once told him: “There’s two things we don’t want to know: if you’re an alcoholic, or if you’re gay.”
The comment plagued Jonathon’s mind in the early days of his career.
“All it takes is for one of those people in that position of power to say that, and it ripples through,” he said, “So, yeah, of course I thought that. Of course I thought that in order to be happy, I needed to be straight.”
Despite this internal struggle, Jonathon eventually realised that this backwards thinking was not going to stop him from being openly in love and happy.
“I reached a point where I thought, f**k this, I’d much prefer to hold my boyfriend’s hand in public or be able to put my own face on Tinder and not be so concerned about that than getting a part.”
This isn’t the only time Jonathon has spoken about his sexuality. In a 2021 issue of attitude, the West End performer sat down with Lord Of The Rings actor Sir Ian McKellan to discuss their experiences as gay men in the entertainment industry.
In the chat, Jonathon said that while there remains a “palpable sense of shame” in this regard, gay actors are increasingly “being poached”.
“You get a script sent through and they’ll say, ‘must be comfortable with talking about sexuality,’ so that is in one way a brilliant thing,” he said.
“Because it’s saying we’re not encouraging anyone not to talk about sexuality, but it’s also showing that sexuality is becoming a commodity.”
