And perhaps manifesting actually does work because now the musicians are besties. Seriously, what in the Wattpad is this?

When we say fan. We mean FAN. Olivia has taken inspiration from the Speak Now singer a lot throughout her music career, even incorporating one of Tay Tay’s tunes, New Year’s Day, into her song 1 step forward, 3 steps back.

And it seems that’s not the only inspiration Olivia has taken from Taylor, with the 18-year-old including many a Swift-esque Easter Egg into her marketing campaigns.

Yep, we all know Taylor Swift is the queen of hidden details, and it’s clear that Liv has taken a leaf out of her role model’s book.

Fans retrospectively noticed that in a promo shot for her second single, Deja Vu, Olivia had sneakily teased the release of her third single, Good 4 U.

After the teenager shared a photo to Instagram of an ice cream van with the words “deja vu ice cream is good 4 u” plastered on its side, fans took a little while to pick up on the teaser.

“Deja vu & good for you Easter egg 😭😭😭 how did I not see that?!? Taylor taught her well 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽”, one user wrote.

That she did. And it seems like it’s a mutual admiration society when it comes to the two musicians, with Taylor publicly confessing how proud she is of her prodigy on multiple occasions.

So, to celebrate this truly iconic master-student relationship, we’ve taken a look back at Olivia and Taylor’s friendship timeline. Spoiler alert: It’s pretty cute.

It all goes back to April 2020 when Olivia performed a cover of Taylor’s hit song, Cruel Summer, for MTV.

The Driver’s License singer certainly caught her idol’s eye as the 31-year-old reposted the clip, adding: “The talent. Love this!”.

Excuse us while we fangirl on Olivia’s behalf.

Fast forward nine months later and Olivia had cause to fangirl even more when Taylor popped up in her Instagram comments section.

After the musician showcased her debut song Driver’s License sitting in the charts alongside two of Taylor’s Evermore tracks with the caption: “next to taylor on the us i tunes chart i’m in a puddle of tears 😭😭😭😭”, the Lover singer was quick to vocalise her support for her mini-me.

“I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud,” Tay wrote. Needless to say, number 1. Swiftie Olivia freaked out at the acknowledgement, replying: “crying like a baby! thank you for everything u do!!!!!!!”

Two months later, Taylor traded in Instagram comments for real-life letters, sending the HSMTMTS star a personal note alongside hand-wrapped gifts.

“She is absolutely the kindest individual in the whole world,” Olivia told SiriusXM of the gesture.

The former Disney star also revealed to Radio.com that the letter was inspired by Taylor’s Evermore song, Long Story Short, specifically the lyrics: “Past me, I wanna tell you not to get lost in these petty things, your nemeses will defeat themselves before you get the chance to swing”.

“So she wrote about that a little bit in her letter,” Olivia explained. “She was like, ‘I think we make our own luck and I think when you’re kind to people and do what’s right, it always comes back to you in the best ways.’”

Otherwise known as the month when Olivia unofficially joined Taylor’s marketing team for her rerelease of Fearless.

Along with American musician Conan Gray, the Brutal singer made a video to celebrate the rerelease of Taylor’s song, White Horse.

“We got a sneak peek of white horse (taylor’s version) and we just had to make this vid lol. one of my fav songs of all time. remix this and sing along! @conangray,” the Disney+ actress wrote on her Instagram.

Taylor also shared a different clip of the two musicians dancing to one of her biggest hits, You Belong With Me, deeming them her “two kids.”

“You ok? NO cause I sent my two kids @Olivia_Rodrigo and @conangray my new version of You Belong With Me and THEY ARE SO CUTE IT PHYSICALLY HURTS ME ((Album out at midnight!))” Taylor wrote on Twitter.

Perhaps Taylor will re-enlist Olivia’s help to promote her rerelease of Red.

While Taylor was busy rereleasing Fearless, Olivia chose the same month to debut the album cover for Sour, in which she is wearing a ring gifted to her by the Blank Space singer.

Olivia also revealed to Zane Lowe on Apple Music how Taylor has inspired not only her song writing, but her life as well.

“I totally grew up seeing myself in her. I think it’s no small feat that she has had this insane career stretching 15 years, and she’s managed to keep her sanity and her tenderness and her kindness throughout all of it,” she said.

“She’s obviously such a personal songwriter. And I think I am a really personal songwriter too. I draw a lot of inspiration from my personal life … Literally every album she’s made is a classic album that I feel people are going to listen to for a hundred years. She’s just immortal.”
