Calling all barbz and Navy… Nicki Minaj and Rihanna just hung out and fans are convinced a collab is coming. But it may not be the kind you’re thinking of.

We’re not saying that things have gown downhill since Rihanna and Nicki Minaj last released music… but we can’t deny the timing is weird.
So, when Nicki, 38, took to her Instagram on Tuesday to share a bunch of content with Rihanna, 33, fans understandably went wild that the two music icons were in the same room (hopefully a studio) and breathing the same air (hopefully COVID safely).
In the pictures were Nicki’s husband Kenneth Petty and her baby boy, whose name she has kept quiet, along with Rihanna and her current beau A$AP Rocky. Now that’s a solid Met Gala table.
The Superbass singer captioned the post: “#RokNRiha #QueenRih #CaribbeanGirlsRunit Love her downnnnnnn #NewYorkSh*t #YKTFV.”
And then, because fans apparently hadn’t freaked out enough, the 38-year-old followed it up with a video of her and Ri Ri literally just looking hot.
“Caribbean things,” Rihanna said in the footage, before eliciting a gasp from Nicki when she revealed that the people of Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, where the artists are originally from, historically don’t see eye-to-eye.
“You know Bajans don’t like Trinis?” Rihanna told the Anaconda singer. “And Trinis don’t like Bajans. They draw a line in the ocean over flying fish.”
The 33-year-old then said it was a story for another time… but we want to know the teeaaaa.
The comments on both Instagram posts have been limited. But you know what hasn’t been limited? Twitter. As always, it has thoughts.
Does this mean we’re getting another Nicki + Rihanna collab? So far, the singers have dropped three songs together: Fly, Mind On My Money and Raining Men.
Pluuus… Rihanna did tell Graham Norton she was back “in the studio” in 2018 during an interview with her Ocean’s 8 co-stars.
Graham prompted her for more information, but the Higher singer stayed tight-lipped, replying: “You’ll just have to wait and see.”
Three years later and we’re still waiting, Ri Ri.
Some fans did point out that the collab could have something to do with Rihanna’s beauty brand, Fenty, rather than be of the music variety.
If that’s true, we’re absolutely not complaining. Nicki and Ri could collaborate on toilet paper and it would probably be iconic. In fact, it might be smart during a pandemic. You’re welcome for the idea girls x
