Miley Cyrus just levelled up her looks again with a “naked” bodysuit

We reckon this "negative space" trend is gonna be everywhere, if you're brave enough to try it.

Miley Cyrus is making the case for something new in the world of risqué dressing. Not the “naked dress,” which has been around for a while and proves a perennial classic, but the naked bodysuit. Over the weekend the “Midnight Sky” singer took to the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival to close out the show.

Cyrus gave some stellar performances, including live renditions of her songs “Heart of Glass,” “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” “Who Owns My Heart,” and “Midnight Sky.” And in classic Miley fashion, she did it in an ultra-glam outfit.

The look was a head-to-toe sheer bodysuit from Mugler, a designer she also wore at the MTV VMAs back in August. The “naked” bodysuit has some strategic black panels to cover the, uh, important bits and Cyrus paired it with a heavy-looking selection of chunky silver jewellery. She rocked a similar makeup look to others we’ve seen her embracing during this “Midnight Sky” era: glam shimmery eyeshadow with a bold red lip, done by makeup artist Janice Daoud.

The negative space trend is one we’ve seen popping up in our Instagram feeds for a little while now, though in forms a *little* more low-key than Cyrus’ version. Designers like Mugler, Khaite, and Saint Laurent have all tried their hand at the trend and with summer very close on the horizon, we’re keeping these in our saved folders for some future ~Outside Outfits~ inspiration.

Other performers at the festival, whose looks were y’know okay but not like Miley‘s, included Keith Urban, Usher, Kane Brown, Bon Jovi, and Swae Lee. Many artists urged the audience to register to vote and turn up at the polls in November, stressing the importance of it given the current political climate.

We’re loving the current reinvention tip Cyrus is on, we can only wait to see if her Hannah Montana reboot plan comes through too!
