In news that surprises nobody, the Kardashian family has broken quarantine to celebrate Scott Disick’s 37th birthday. While the Kardashian-Jenner family are probably not the role models than anyone would go to when it comes to current medical guidelines about responsible social-distancing, it’s pretty brazen for them to be flaunting get-togethers in the wake of a pandemic that’s killed over 400,000 people at the time of writing.
On her Instagram account, Kim Kardashian shared a selfie with Disick, as well as other photos with her siblings. “We celebrated Scott’s bday a few weeks ago with just family and it was really my first time being around a group of people (small group),” she wrote in her post. “It was kind of nice but kind of scary too. How is everyone feeling about being out and about?”
While things are slowly opening up here in Australia, the coronavirus situation is still incredibly serious in the U.S. With the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement still dominating international conversations, many people are calling the family out for irresponsible behaviour. This new post comes very soon after Kylie Jenner faced backlash for breaking social distancing to go clubbing with her friends.
Documented in numerous Instagram posts and stories, the get together was for her friend Anastasia Karanikolaou’s 23rd birthday party. On top of not wearing masks, flouting social distancing and having drinks in what appear to be medical-style IV-drip bags, the Kylie Cosmetics founder also got away with breaking the city curfew currently in place in LA.
A reminder, the curfew was set in response to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests. There’s obviously a huge double standard that Jenner is allowed to go clubbing with her friends while protestors literally fighting for an end to racial violence and systematic police brutality and corruption are punished.
Kendall Jenner also decided she was above social distancing and quarantine recently too. In April, the model broke California’s shelter-in-home order to go on a casual seven-hour one-way road trip with someone she wasn’t quarantining with, the NBA player Devin Booker. According to TMZ, she wanted to get “some much-needed air.” Idk about you, but when we need air, we open a window.
Surely there are a couple of windows Jenner could have opened in her 6,625 square-foot Beverly Hills estate?
