Although Outer Banks is filmed in Charleston, South Carolina in America, Rudy was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska. When he was young, Rudy had ambitions to go to culinary school before deciding to become an actor.
“I was actually going to go to college, I had everything set up, I had my dorm and a scholarship and all that and I was about to go to a culinary school,” the 22-year-old told L’Officiel in 2020.
“I was like, ‘Why are you doing this? Are you going to be happy?’ I knew the answer to that question, and then I had the opportunity around the same time to come down [to LA] and go to an improv class as well as a scene study class, and I immediately fell in love with it, and that was that.”

As well as his role in Outer Banks, Rudy has also appeared as an extra in Ryan Murphy’s The Politician and will star as Joey in the upcoming movie, Space Waves.

Who is Rudy Pankow dating?
Ahh yes, the important question.
Well, we aren’t completely sure. But in November last year he sparked dating rumours with his co-worker, Elaine Siemek (assistant to Outer Banks’ co-creator, Jonas Pate) after he shared a sweet tribute to her on Instagram.
Posting a series of images of Elaine, the actor wrote, “You give me butterflies everyday… literally. Happy birthday PBM”. Aww.
Other than that, there’s not much evidence as to Rudy’s current relationship status. Although, in an interview with Seventeen in April 2020, he did share a cryptic comment about his romantic life when comparing himself to his Outer Banks character, JJ.
“JJ taught me how to balance both worlds of not only acting as JJ, but also balancing work and not work. If it’s cherishing your family time or being in a relationship at some point, there’s a balance to everything.”
Hmm, it’s all a bit mysterious.
Elaine’s Instagram account is currently on private; but if the pair are dating, it looks as though the couple are enjoying keeping things on the down low for now.
