The 36-year-old actress and director just wrapped the production of her new film, Don’t Worry Darling, which stars Midsommar star Florence Pugh, former 1D babe Harry Styles, actor Nick Kroll, and stand-up comedian Kate Berlant.
Just like when you finally finish a group project at school, those final moments were emotional, and everyone cheered and praised each other. Over on her Instagram, Wilde shouted out Pugh, but it’s her penned tribute to Harry Styles on her Instagram grid that has us gawking.
As the House star explained, it’s a “little known fact” that most male actors don’t want to play supporting roles in female-led films.
“The industry has raised them to believe it lessens their power to accept these roles, which is one of the reasons why it’s so hard to get financing for movies focusing on female stories,” Wilde wrote in the post. “No joke, it is hard to find actors who recognise why it might be worth it to allow for a woman to hold the spotlight.”
“Enter: Harry Styles, our “Jack,”” she continued. “Not only did he relish the opportunity to allow for the brilliant Florence Pugh to hold centre stage as our “Alice,” but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity. He didn’t have to join our circus, but he jumped on board with humility and grace, and blew us away every day with his talent, warmth, and ability to drive backwards.”
How cuuuute. Olivia Wilde paired the caption with a striking black-and-white photo of the back of Styles dressed in a 1950s suit, sitting on the back of a shiny 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible. While this doesn’t confirm their alleged romance, the pair were romantically linked in the tabloids after Wilde went as Styles’s plus one to a friends’ wedding 👀.
