On screen, they portray Tessa Young and Hardin Scott in the beloved YA After franchise. But are Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin as in love as ‘Hessa’ when the cameras stop rolling?
Many fans are certainly holding out hope that the actors are dating IRL. We’ve investigated to see whether their wishes have come true.

First, there were the photos of Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin entering his birthday party together back in November 2018.
Then, the duo kicked off the After world tour in Mexico in March 2019, where they complemented one another perfectly on the red carpet.
And then, there was the CP24 video of both co-stars discussing their kissing scenes in the upcoming film that left fans questioning: Are Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin dating IRL?
While the answer has never been confirmed, with Josephine herself saying she is “overly private”, based purely on just how cute they are together, we would love to be able to say ‘yes’.
The two have just dropped the third instalment of the cult coming-of-age series, After We Fell, on Amazon Prime, the adaptation of the best-selling author Anna Todd’s After series, playing lead characters Tessa and Hardin in a classic tale of ‘good girl meets bad boy’.
It’s perhaps this very narrative that is making audiences ‘ship’ the couple in real life. After all, who doesn’t love it when art imitates life?
And they certainly have a lot of chemistry on-screen. Just take one look at their steamy hot tub scene in AWF and you’ll see what we mean. Though, Josephine did recently tell Girlfriend that this moment wasn’t as sexy as it looked.
Behind the scenes, it does seem that Josephine and Hero get on really well, with the actress also telling GF that they even developed a tradition after their kissing scenes.
“We (she and Hero) started to get a bit of a ritual after some of the kissing scenes of just going ‘good job team’,” the 24-year-old told us.
While Josephine has yet to speak about any IRL romantic relationships, past or present, in February 2019, Hero told ELLE U.S. that he has “never had, like, a proper relationship. I haven’t had a girl I would call my girlfriend”, which seemingly suggested that he and Langford were not together.
At this point, there’s nothing on either actor’s Instagram profiles to suggest the presence of any significant other on the periphery.
However, when Josephine, 24, posted a shot of herself and Hero from the movie with the caption: “Tessa & Hardin. #AfterMovie”, it garnered over 6,000 comments, with many fans expressing their love for the couple and asking whether they are together off-screen as well.
Instagram user @miicaaiaah asked, “R they dating in real life ?” while @s.a.b_98 stated, “Love you both 💜💜💜”.
Of course, while their chemistry is undeniably convincing, there’s no proof that suggests they’ve taken their romance off screen. We guess we’ll have to settle for shipping Hessa… which is totally fine with us.
