TikTok star Addison Rae has been accused of blackfishing after a now deleted Snapchat video of her seemingly putting on makeup to make herself darker than her skin tone.
Earlier this week, the TikTok famous influencer, who has over 48 million followers, shared a video of her getting ready for a photoshoot. Without even needing a side by side comparison, it was noticeably clear that Rae’s skin tone was different. Many fans are now calling her out for allegedly blackfishing in the clip seen below.
Blackfishing refers to non-Black people changing the colour of their skin with makeup to give the illusion that they’re Black. It stems from a long racist history of blackface and various other celebs, including NikitaDragun, Ariana Grande, the Kardashian-Jenner family and others have been accused of cultural appropriation and blackfishing before.
Shortly after the video went viral, footage of Rae allegedly peer pressuring friend Kio to “say the N-word” resurfaced, leading the hashtag “addisonraeisoverparty” to begin trending.
Earlier this week, Rae was rumoured to be “hanging out” with ex and good friend Bryce Hall. As of writing, the TikTok star has yet to respond to the allegations against her.
