According to JustJared, Netflix recently shared their annual viewing data and, considering two minutes as “watched,” consider these the most popular TV shows and flicks on the platform.
And, sadly, Girlfriend faves like Stranger Things, Sex Education and Umbrella Academy didn’t make the list. Maybe this explains why The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is cancelled 😥
Okay so, let’s about the obvious info first: Netflix’s most-watched original TV shows. Not a lot of this is that surprising and even without looking at the list, you can kinda guess what it’s going to be on it.
Anyway, according to the report, the most-watched original TV shows on Netflix are:
- The Crown season three (21 million views)
- Ozark season three (29 million)
- Love is Blind (30 million)
- Raising Dion season one (32 million)
- Floor is Lava (37 million)
- Space Force (40 million)
- Never Have I Ever (40 million)
- Too Hot to Handle (51 million)
- You season two (54 million)
- Tiger King (64 million)
- Money Heist (65 million)
- The Witcher (76 million)
Although, apparently, 70 percent of viewers stayed watching other shows like:
- Stranger Things season three (45 million)
- Umbrella Academy season one (45 million)
- Sex Education season one (40 million)
- Dead to Me season one (30 million).
We know we sure did.
The most watched movies on Netflix, meanwhile, are far more shocking.
Apparently, the top 10 most watched movies are:
- The Perfect Date, starring heathrob Noah Centineo (48 million views)
- The Platform (56 million)
- The Wrong Missy (59 million)
- Triple Frontier (63 million)
- The Irishman (64 million)
- Murder Mystery (73 million)
- 6 Underground (83 million)
- Spenser Confidential (85 million)
- Bird Box (89 million)
- Extraction, starring Chris Hemsworth (99 million).
Interestingly, a few of these films—Extraction, Spenser Confidential, The Wrong Missy and The Platform—were released this year, suggesting that a lot of us are watching A LOT of Netflix while in lockdown (guiltyyyy). Although, us here at Girlfriend haven’t seen any of these films and only recognise half.
