Everything you need to know about Netflix’s ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’

Plus a sneaky BTS pic!

There are two reasons why we are counting down the days until the Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot premieres.

One: the ‘90s Sabrina series with Melissa Joan Hart was fire.

Two: this particular reboot, which is called Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, is actually a Riverdale spin-off, which is being written by Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. YASSSSS.

But, this reboot is much darker than the ‘90s series was.

In fact, the Melissa Joan Hart series was based on the 1971 Sabrina the Teenage Witch comic book, while the Netflix series is being adapted from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic, which was launched in 2014.

This particular series will be focusing on the origin of Sabrina Spellman.

This coming-of-age story is going to be hella dark (very Riverdale-esque) and will feature lots of horror and witchcraft as Sabrina struggles with her half-witch, half-mortal status.

Mad Men actress Kiernan Shipka is portraying Sabrina Spellman and Austin & Ally actor Ross Lynch stars as Harvey Kinkle.

Australian actress Miranda Otto plays Sabrina’s aunt Zelda and Lucy Davis will play her other aunt Hilda.

Riverdale creator, Roberto, recently shared a behind-the-scenes picture from a table read last week.

The picture features Ross Lynch (who is playing Harvey Kinkle), Gavin Leatherwood (who plays Nicholas Scratch) and Chance Perdomo (who plays Ambrose Spellman).

“Tableread for Ep #9 of #Sabrina yesterday with these chaps, tableread for Ep #36 (!!) with #Riverdale tomorrow! Good times in Greendale/Riverdale!” he wrote on Instagram.

Sabrina and co will live in Greendale.

Yep, the Riverdale gang are literally living next door so we’re crossing ALL of our fingers for a Sabrina/Riverdale crossover!

And, kitty cat Salem WILL feature in the reboot. Phew!

We were low-key scared that Sabrina’s talking cat wouldn’t feature in the series but Roberto confirmed via Twitter that the black cat will be in Greendale. Meow.

Former Sabrina actress, Melissa Joan Hart, thinks the new series sounds much darker than her show.

“I think our show was about magic and family, and I think the new one — it sounds like, I have no idea — but the new one is going to be more about witchcraft, dark stuff,” Melissa told Entertainment Weekly. “I think it sounds more Buffy the Vampire Slayer than it does Sabrina, so I think it will appeal to a different kind of audience and be a totally different show.”

And finally, there’s no official date for the premiere on Netflix.

But, we think it’ll air before the end of the year. Fingers crossed!
