Princess peach, Yoshi and Mario may win the popular vote in the Nintendo world, but it turns out that the most hated character… Wario… is the most effective in Mario Kart!
Civis Analytics data scientist Henry Hinnefeld did some ~maths~ to analyse each character in the video game, more specifically in Mario Kart 8, focusing on their tire and kart choice.
Each character in Mario Kart have pretty much the same statistics, just distributed differently.
A small character will have a zippier acceleration, while a larger character will reach a higher top speed. But if you can’t choose between the two, scientists figured it out for you.
Wario’s kart/tire options account for about half of all the best possible configurations in the game. The best kart is the Biddybuggy, followed closely by the Sports Bike. The worst? Badwagon – as its name suggests.
