Even though we’re not ready to accept it, there’s only 10 episodes left of Pretty Little Liars, which means we’re SO close to finding out who the hell Uber A aka A.D. is!
Of course, we’re still in the dark as ever but this fan theory that’s doing the rounds on Reddit might have just brought us one step closer to the truth. It goes pretty deep but we’ll try to break it down for you.
Basically it revolves around a character you might have forgotten about: Byron’s mysterious brother (and Aria’s uncle), Scott Montgomery who has a vague history of mental illness (just like almost every A has). Even though it’s controversial and we totally don’t agree with it, people with mental illness are often portrayed as villains on the show.
Anyway, Scott has never made an appearance but he does get mentioned back in the second season when Aria’s brother Mike is struggling with his parent’s almost-divorce and acting out.
Ella thinks he dealing with depression but Byron implies that there’s more to it than that, something which he’s seen before. “I don’t think we should be giving Mike space,” Byron says in the episode ‘Picture This.’ “My parents gave Scott space, and you know what happened to him.” Oooooohhh the mystery!!!
When Ella aks why Mike reminds him of Scott he says: “Because when I went up to talk to Mike, he was rolled up in a blanket. It was like I wasn’t even there. And I saw my brother. What if there is something more going on here?” Two episodes later, there’s also mention of how a psychiatrist might be wise given Byron’s “family history.” Interesting.
And since we never get any more details about what happened to Scott, fans are using their imaginations. If Scott is alive, it’s safe to say he ended up at infamous mental institution, Radley (where else?!). And given that we don’t know who Charlotte’s biological father is, it’s possible that it’s someone Mary Drake met at Radley and that someone could be Scott Montgomery!!!
Let’s assume Mary Drake doesn’t know what her other child looks like or she just lied about the child being Spencer. What if her second child is Aria and Byron and Ella had to adopt her since Scott couldn’t take care of her?! Which means A.D. could stand for — get ready — Aria’s Dad!!!
But imagine if the truth is even more mind-blowing. Even if Scott isn’t A.D. or Aria’s father, his history of mental illness is still pretty important. Another popular fan theory is that Aria is A.D. and she’s suffering from her own mental health issues (which perfectly ties in given the show’s track record)!!!
