Here at GF, we love a supernatural TV series as much as the next people — they force us to suspend our disbelief and immerse ourselves in the surreal.
But, we’re also all about super realistic shows about high school life that have us nodding enthusiastically because they’re SO damn relatable.
So, when a show comes along that merges these two things? Naturally, we need to put all other commitments on hold and binge-watch them immediately!
Netflix are absolute masters at this, as they’ve already brought us iconic, supernatural high-school series like Stranger Things and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
It seems they’ve done it again, blessing us with yet another series to fill the witchy void. They’ve just released the trailer for I Am Not Okay With This and can we just say, it looks like an absolutely epic ride!
Based on a graphic novel, this origin series follows teen girl, Sydney Novak (Sophia Lillis from IT and Stranger Things) who’s navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all while dealing with the complexities of her family and her budding sexuality.
She’s not getting on with her mum, her bestie has just started dating some f*ckboy and she just feels really freakin’ boring and mediocre. So far, so relatable!
But in case all of that isn’t enough to deal with, she’s also coming to terms with the mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken deep within her.
Think, moving things with her eyes, making books fly around her. Ya know, just normal teen stuff!
The series is led by Jonathan Entwistle, director/EP of The End of the F***ing World Jonathan Entwistle and the producers of Stranger Things. So, you just KNOW this dramedy is going to keep you on the edge of your seat AND make you laugh out loud.
Yep, we are totally okay with this.
