Taylor Swift’s new album is out and she has taken the opportunity to make some serious points on the media’s double standards when it comes to men and women.
In Tay Tay’s new song ‘The Man’, our Queen calls out the media’s sexist reporting, using Leo’s dating history as a prime example.
Leonardo’s habit of exclusively dating women (models) in their twenties continues to be overlooked, despite the fact that Leo continues to age (he’s currently 44) his taste for 25-year-old supermodels stays the same.
As Taylor points out in her song ‘The Man’, if a woman was to do this, she’d be ridiculed to death.

Even if you’re not a Taylor fan, ‘The Man’ highlights not just the sexism Tay’s felt in her career and the judgments made about her love life, but the sexism that every woman faces.
It’s fierce, it’s powerful, we love it.

So where exactly does Leo come in? Well in ‘The Man’, Taylor sings: “And they would toast to me, oh, let the players play / I’d be just like Leo in Saint Tropez.”
The lyric is a not-so-subtle dig at the Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood actor’s annual foundation gala, held in Saint Tropez.
Saint Tropez also happens to be the vacation spot Leo normally takes his numerous (much younger) girlfriends.
There is a serious case to be made for the questionable nature of Leo’s dating history, and yet the Oscar winner remains a respected actor and public figure, and as Taylor rightly points out, this would probably not be the case if it was a woman continuously dating much younger men.

Don’t worry Leo fans, ‘The Man’ isn’t a ‘call-out’, other lyrics also highlight the double standards she has felt in her own life, especially when it comes to the public judging her relationships.
“They’d say I played the field before / I found someone to commit to / And that would be okay for me to do / Every conquest I had made would make me more of a boss to you.”
Her next set of lyrics really hit home for any woman who’s been judged for simply being themseves:
“What I was wearing, if I was rude / Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves.”

Love her or hate her, ‘The Man’ is boss and we stan an honest Queen.
