The series premiered on January 1, 2020, and garnered quite the audience very quickly. However, the show hit the streaming service at the same time as the HIGHLY successful show ‘The Circle‘, so that might be why numbers were affected.

Deadline first reported about the show’s cancellation, confirming that, “Netflix, which goes straight-to-series on all of its shows, examines viewing (and awards recognition) vs. cost for each show when making a renewal decision.”

Unfortunately, the show ended with a major cliffhanger, where we see flash-forwards of the characters performing their free dance. So, we are left wondering if they made Nationals or not!

The show writers released a statement on Twitter after the show’s cancellation:
“Hey, everyone. I’m sure you’ve seen the news — we’ve been cancelled. We’re of course upset because we had so many stories to tell for our badass characters. Thank you so much for watching and being a part of our community. We truly appreciate each and every one of you.”
Kaya Scodelario starred in the show.
