MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!
The wait is over, Riverdale fam. The identity of the Black Hood has ~finally~ been revealed in the newest episode.
Archie does some serious digging and discovers that the school janitor, Mr. Svenson has been *mysteriously* absent from school.
Also in the ep, Betty receives a gift from another “secret Santa”, a severed finger (*voms*) along with a new note from the Black Hood that says that Svenson is a “sinner.”
Meanwhile, a trip to the Sisters of Quiet Mercy convent where Svenson was raised after his family was murdered reveals that he may have identified the wrong man as the Riverdale Reaper, and as a result an innocent man was killed by an angry mob.
Cheryl’s crazy Nana Rose makes an appearance and recalls that time when Betty’s grandfather was part of that angry mob (!!!) which could explain why the Black Hood is after Betty.
Betty finds an old photo of her grandpa standing under a tree that resembles the “Devil’s Hand” Nana Rose mentioned, which leads them to the tree’s location where they find a makeshift tombstone for Svenson and some shovels.
They dig up a casket, only to find that it’s empty *cue screaming*.
The Black Hood then rocks up and holds a gun at them! He tells Archie to get into the casket and orders Betty to bury him alive, but luckily for the gang a siren distracts him so Betty wacks him in the face with her shovel.
A chase ensues and Archie points his gun at the Black Hood but the hooded freak is shot by Sheriff Keller (revealing that he wasn’t the identity of the Black Hood like everyone thought).
They unmask the now deceased hooded dude to reveal that he is, indeed, Mr. Svenson!
And get this, he is missing a finger *dun dun duuuuuun*. Turns out he cut it off to throw off the gang.
