*WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BOTH RIVERDALE AND CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA*
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has landed on Netflix, and people are OBSESSED.
While it follows a completely different path than the original Sabrina The Teenage Witch, references to their sister show Riverdale are apparent throughout the series.
Showrunner of both, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, has in the past talked about a potential crossover between the two shows, but halfway through CAOS, there was a pretty big Riverdale reference that we can’t look past. It’s Ben.
In episode 7, possessed Ms. Wardwell orders a pizza. When the doorbell rings, there stands Ben Button from Rivedale.
In Riverdale, Ben has only appeared a few times, but they’re starting to become a little more important each time. We first saw him visiting Ms. Grundy’s home on the other side of Sweetwater river, having a “music lesson”.
Later in the show, he was seen with Chic Cooper, in the Cooper household.
Most recently, Ben was mixed up in the Griffin’s and Gargoyle’s board game, throwing himself out a window, and dying.
What’s interesting is that it is implied that he dies in CAOS too. After Madam Satan closes the door, she implies that she is going to eat Ben. At the end of the season, we find out she eats humans…
We’re thinking that Ben is going to play a larger role in possibly both shows eventually, but for now, we’re pretty intrigued by his appearances.
