Noah Centineo is about to star alongside Dwayne Johnson in an upcoming DC film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Girlfriend fave and To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star is making his superhero debut in a spinoff to Shazam! called Black Adam. His Netflix co-star Lana Condor (To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You) previously starred as superpowered teens in Syfy’s Deadly Class and X-Men: Apocalypse.
As THR reports, Centineo will play “Atom Smasher, a character who can control his molecular structure and is able to manipulate his size and strength. The character has appeared onscreen before, in an episode of The CW’s The Flash.”
Johnson, who stars as the titular Black Adam, is a prominent character in the DC Comics universe, and also makes his superhero film debut.
According to a tweet summarising a 4chan post about casting updates for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Centineo was chosen allegedly against Aussie hearthrobs Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things, The Broken Hearts Gallery) and Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth 2, Euphoria), as well as Matthew Noszka (Let It Snow) and Eli Goree (The 100).
Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name) and Eiza Gonzalez (Alita: Battle Angel) are allegedly “the frontrunners” to play Hawkman and Hawkgirl, but this has yet to be confirmed by DC or any casting agencies. Noah Centineo is also said to star in The Diary, a World War 2 drama directed by Jackie Chan.
More DC news is expected to come at DC FanDome, an inaugural event held online on 22nd of August to replace their showing at what would have been San Diego Comic Con.
