You may not have heard, but there is a new social media app that is rivalling Instagram and Twitter, called Vero.
It’s cool because young people are using it, and it is better than Instagram in a sense that everything is posted chronologically. There’s also no ads, so that’s a plus.
HOWEVER. There have been some issues arise.
Because the app gained popularity so quickly, (even though it’s been around since 2015), there are now technical issues popping up everywhere.
The app told Gizmodo that they’re “currently experiencing intermittent technical issues due to extremely high traffic.”
Some people on Twitter even discovered that the team behind Vero is made up entirely of Russian developers.
Not only that, but they’re also planning to implement a paywall for users, meaning you will be charged yearly after the first 1 million users. A Twitter user even pointed out that your location will be able to be shared, with no option available to turn it off. Vero will also have ownership over content you share.
Although, it’s important to note that Twitter and Facebook also have the right to reuse your content… guess we should have read those terms and conditions.

According to the Daily Beast, it’s also been discovered that Vero’s CEO has an awful history. Ayman Hariri’s last job was the deputy CEO of a construction company that treated migrant workers so badly, the Saudi Arabian government had to step in.
While working at the company more than 31,000 workers filed a lawsuit against them for unpaid wages, while they were forced to live in labour camps with limited access to food.
Yikes. We think we’re gonna stick to Instagram, regardless of that stupid non-chronological feed.
