YOU is the creepiest/most amazing show on Netflix RN, especially because it stars Penn Badgley, who plays Joe Goldberg.
In a nutshell, he’s Dan Humphrey from Gossip Girl on STEROIDS when it comes to the online stalking, lusting after love-interest Beck, and murdering people while he makes her fall for him.
Standard love story!
But what makes the show soooo creepy is that Penn (Joe) narrates the entire thing.
But guess what? Removing that narration altogether has just made the show even creepier. Without the narration, the characters don’t actually say much, making it pretty silent.
In fact, as Netflix points out in a video, one scene shows that the only word Beck and Joe sayiis falafel.

The rest is Joe’s voiceover.
“For someone so obsessed with keeping a relationship alive, Joseph, there’s a lot of dead air,” Netflix wrote in the video.
“I don’t see him as a portrayal of a real person; I see him as a representation of the part of us that identifies with him,” Penn told Today about his character. “The part of us that is a troll; that part of us that is victim blaming; the part of us that is privileged and blind. We’re meant to identify with him.”
